If DISE is stuck trying to update, run this command in Command Prompt.

Storage locations

These are common storage locations for your saves and profile.

If needed, see the list of common app/title IDs.

Note: Some of the folders are hidden, so you may need to show them.

<release group> = The group/team who released the non-Steam version of the game.
<user> = Your (non-)Steam account.
<app ID> = The game's application ID. Every game has a unique ID.

Dead Island & Dead Island: Riptide

You'll see files named save_<number>.sav (Dead Island) and/or save_<number>.sar (Riptide). Those are your saves, and there's one per character. There may be one extra (old) copy, so make sure to pick the right one.

PC (with Steam)

If you installed Steam at the default location, your game-saves should be in here:

%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\userdata\<user>\<app ID>\remote\out\save
Xbox 360
Partition 0\Content\<user>\Dead Island\Game Saves Partition 0\Content\<user>\<title ID>\00000001
PlayStation 3 / PS3
/dev_hdd0/home/<user>/savedata/<title ID>-SG-SAVE_<save number>
PC (possible locations without Steam)
<Dead Island install path>\out\save Windows Vista/7/8: %ProgramData%\<release group>\<user>\<app ID>\storage\out\save Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\<release group>\<user>\<app ID>\storage\out\save

Escape Dead Island

There's just one file, named save_data.

PC (with Steam)

If you installed Steam at the default location, your game-saves should be in here:

%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\userdata\<user>\<app ID>\remote
PC (possible locations without Steam)
Windows Vista/7/8: %LOCALAPPDATA%\EMU\Steam\<app ID>\remote

Dying Light

You'll see files named save_coop_<number>.sav. Those are your saves, and there's one per character.

PC (with Steam)

If you installed Steam at the default location, your game-saves should be in here:

%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\userdata\<user>\<app ID>\remote\out\save
PC (possible locations without Steam)
Windows Vista/7/8: %ProgramData%\Steam\<user>\<app ID>\storage\out\save

  1. Hi Steffen, I just reloaded my games thru steam to a 500gb ssd that is shown as F: on my pc.
This is just for storage and does not have my OS (Win7) on it. How can I get your awesome software program to see this and be able to change the values in DI & DIR?
    Thanks for sharing!!!

    1. Hello JK! If you use Steam, just do this in DISE while Steam is open:
Go to the main menu, Tools, then Preferences. Under "Game storage location", you can either change this manually or press "<" to retrieve it from Steam.

  2. I can't find my ps3 edited save. When I load a save from my USB it says it is the edited one but on Dead Island Riptide it is my original.
